Noongar Season Prints

The Noongar people of South Western Australia recognise six distinct seasons: Birak, Bunuru, Djeran, Makuru, Djilba, and Kambarang. These seasons are not only marked by shifts in temperature or rainfall, but by deeper ecological cues—flowering plants, animal behaviour, and the subtle rhythms of Country.

This art print series by local Perth artist Joshua Kyle is a tribute to that profound knowledge the seasons hold. Inspired by the Noongar seasonal cycle, each of the six prints captures the essence of one season, paired with a native flower that typically blooms during that time. Through form, colour, and composition, these artworks honour the beauty and intelligence of the land’s natural patterns.

Let the seasons guide you—just as they have guided Noongar people for tens of thousands of years.
